These new products share the same great feature set with the originals - phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), T-stop display with supported cinema lenses and supported Fujifilm cameras, smooth iris with supported Canon, Sigma and Tamron lenses for aesthetically-pleasing iris/aperture transitions in movies, and optimized support of both in-body image stabilization (IBIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS). Metabones EF-X Mount T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x II shares the same advanced 5-element/4-group optical design by Caldwell Photographic Inc. with its predecessor, which incorporates ultra-high index tantalum-based optical glass to achieve extraordinary optical performance with improved corner sharpness, distortion and reduced vignetting. The changes of Mark II are all under the hood: an improved processor powers the new Metabones EF-X Mount T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x II and the new Metabones EF-X Mount T CINE Smart Adapter II. The addition of a 'II' mark in red is the only difference that is visible from the outside. Metabones intends to keep publishing new firmware for both the new hardware and the old hardware in the foreseeable future, until the old hardware is outgrown. Metabones wishes to assure existing patrons that at the time of writing there is no intention to end-of-life the original Mark I version.

At the same time as Mark II launches, Metabones publishes new firmware version 1.50 for EF-X. In addition to reliability and performance improvements, this new firmware adds support for the Canon 10x25 (CINE-SERVO 25-250mm) T2.95 cinema lens with built-in 1.5x tele-converter. It is now possible to use this high-ratio, ENG/EFP-style servo zoom for film-making on Fujifilm cameras with tight electronic integration. On supported Fujifilm cameras the iris is displayed in T-stops. Focus distance is displayed in the viewfinder.
