Electronic ND Filter (CINE eND Smart Adapter only)

Controls

• Front lever: flick downward to select the clear filter. Flick upward to use the electronic ND filter.
• Control wheel: roll the control wheel to adjust ND filter strength. The entire control wheel can be pushed inward. Usually, it serves as the "Focus Hold" button which can be assigned to more than 50 functions on the camera body. With a supported cinema lens it becomes a toggle switch for the Bokeh Control function. (See below.)

OLED Display

• (left of the vertical line) GRE=green mode; ADV=advanced mode.
• (top right corner) Bokeh control icon.
• (right of the vertical line) CLEAR=clear filter selected, otherwise the ND filter strength is displayed.

Bokeh Control

With Bokeh Control, you may change only the depth-of-field in your video footage while the exposure remains the same. It works by adjusting the iris and the electronic ND filter in sync. The following are prerequisites required:

• a cinema lens with electrical contacts, such as a Sigma CINE lens or a Canon CN-E lens, and
• the camera must be in movie mode. Bokeh Control is always turned off automatically in photo mode.

To use Bokeh Control,

• Adjust the lens' aperture to maximum.
• Adjust the ND filter to the minimum (7.0 stops).
• Fully depress the entire control wheel inward and check that the Bokeh Control icon appears at the upper right corner of the OLED display.
• Adjust the desired exposure with the camera's ISO setting.
• Now you are fully set-up for Bokeh Control. Stop down the iris to increase depth-of-field, and the electronic ND filter will lighten by the same amount so that the exposure remains the same. Ditto when you open up the iris to decrease the depth-of-field.

White Balance Correction for eND

The electronic ND filter has a difference in color compared to the clear filter. Either

• adjust the white balance with Kelvin +600K and Margenta +M3 on the camera to correct the difference, or
• use the camera's White Balance Present function for the best results.
